monkey down

For those of you who have come to know (and hopefully love) Spunky the Roadtrip Monkey over the past 3 years, I have some bad news...he's not feeling so great these days. On a recent roadtrip he lost both his legs, well...we have his legs, they just came detached, again. So Nick and I have discussed it, and we agree that he'll still accompany us on our big cross country trip but he just may not be able to get out and see all the sites as he did before.
Spunky made his first appearance in August 2005, when he became our mascot on our first roadtrip from Toronto to Tampa, stopping in all the states along I-95 on the way down.
We've been on several trips together since then, he was even at our wedding!
His legs started bothering him late last year on a cruise to Grand Cayman & Cozumel, and by June of 2008 he had lost a leg. That didn't slow him down, however, and he thoroughly enjoyed a nosh at Wilensky's and St. Viateur Bagel in Montreal!
After a tough drive up to DC, he lost his remaining leg. He still managed a brave face for gem hunting in North Carolina, and he may have even found a couple of emeralds worth cutting!
He's very excited for the upcoming cross country roadtrip. A map and schedule are falling into place, and once available I will post them here so you can follow along with us. If anyone has any suggestions of any "must see or do" type places that are along our route, please let me know! Also, friends & family are welcome to join us at a destination or for a leg of our trip, just drop me a line.
